If you’ve graduated Obedience 1 but aren’t ready to take the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, then this class is for you! Obedience 2 is a Canine Good Citizen Prep class to take your dog’s training to a higher level. Students will work through bigger distractions, get a better understanding of commands, and learn advanced behaviors including the skills required for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Test – Responsible owners, well-mannered dogs. The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is the gold standard for dog behavior. In the CGC test, your dog must pass ten mini tests – including:

Obedience 2
New Class Starting Monday, October 28th at 7pm
Students are given a chance to renew for another six weeks of fun at the end of each session, and can continue to attend additional sessions as long as space is available.
The CGC is a certifying programs that is designed to reward dogs that have good manners at home and in the community.
Both purebred and mixed-breed dogs are welcome.
The CGC test can be administered by Clever Canine Dog Training and are available by appointment outside of this class.

- Must have successfully completed Obedience 1 or be part of Clever Canines Private Training Programs

- Accepting a friendly stranger (greeting the handler without acknowledging the dog)
- Sitting politely to be petted (friendly behavior while staying in place to be petted)
- Appearance and grooming (evaluator touches the dog's head, paws, ears and lightly uses brush or comb)
- Out for a walk (dog stays with handler without pulling on leash as they walk turning left, right, an about turn and stop)
- Walking through a crowd (walking on-leash among people without pulling, lunging, jumping or shyness)
- Sit and Down on command and Staying in place
- Coming when called (recall from 20 feet)
- Reaction to another dog (exercise shows that dog should show only casual interest without approaching other dog or handler)
- Reaction to distraction (both noise and movement)
- Supervised separation (handler leaves dog with evaluator for 3 minutes without dog becoming agitated)

We were in search of a local training facility that would be able to help us with our very smart and very easily distracted pup, Jack. After our initial research into Clever Canine we went in for a free evaluation and decided to try the accelerated obedience program they offer. In addition, we signed up for 5 days of the "Stay and Play" doggie day care.
In his first 3 weeks of training, he's a new pup. He's always been good with his commands but he's gotten much better with distractions and he's learned quite a few new ones as well. And we're almost at what I thought would be an impossible break-through...loose leash walking!
Every day after daycare he came home DOG tired but was noticeably better with his commands.
He gets SO excited to go in the morning and on days he stays home, he whines in the hallway because he wants to go see all his human and fur friends. It's very evident that the staff at Clever Canine shows him love, attention, and reinforces positive behaviors we want at home. This dog dad is insanely thankful for Clever Canine and their amazing staff.
